The font navigator that comes with x7 shows as 1710572 the x6 one shows a 1620998 there is a behavior i am not sure is just my system, a bug, or other in the x6 font navigator, you can select the drop down item and browse to a folder where your fonts are located. I, too, keep a ton of fonts loaded in the fonts folder and i did hear a long time ago how they can bog down system performance of course, deactivating fonts means they don't show up in the corel font list, correct? there are times i have to match a client's font, and it's nice when you can cycle through every similar looking font on your system.
